Anita's Nail Faves

Hello loves! I wanted to make a page that'll always be easy to find, that way whether your new to my blog or just curious about my current faves. You'll always be able to easily find them. So I'll be talking about favourite cuticle items, stamping items as well as base & top coats.

So let's start with cuticle care!
Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover
Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover
My favourite cuticle remover/clean up item is the Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover($7) gel in the BLUE bottle. You apply this around your nails, let it sit for a minute, & then using an wooden cuticle stick push back the cuticle & gentle scrap off the dead cuticle. I do this about once a week, sometimes twice a week in the winter.

Cuter Cuticles Cider Donut & Cotton Candy
Cuter Cuticles Cider Donut & Cotton Candy

The cuticle oil I use frequently everyday is the Cuter Cuticles ($5) cuticle oil. My person favourite scents are Cider Donut, Poison Apple, Cotton Candy & Bubble Gum. I highly recommend all of these scents if you love sweet, candy & bakery scents. She also does custom scents too!

Base coats, & top coats.
Unt Ready For Takeoff
Unt Ready For Takeoff
My favourite base coat is the Unt Ready For Takeoff($10) base coat. It's a peel off base coat that's water based. It's like most peel off base coats, because it's not PVA base. For my this is the perfect base coat, specifically because I'm always swatching polishes & doing nail art. I also have extremely oily nail beds, so this base coat only lasts 24 hours, sometimes less on me.

Essie Matte About You
Essie Matte About You
My favourite matte top coat is the Essie Matte About You($10) top coat. I know top coats can be a huge pain in the ass because it seems like you can only use them once then  you start getting tiny white particles. I have a theory as to why this happens, I feel like since matte top coats dry so quick, every time you use it 7 get polish around the rim, dip in or screw on the lid tiny dry bits fall in. I'm not positive that this is it, but I feel strongly that it is.

What's Up Nails Gloss Over
The What's Up Nails Gloss Over ($9.75) top coat is fantastic. It's good for applying over freshly applied polish so all the layers dry insanely fast. However it's also really good for layering, which is fantastic for glitter polishes.

Nail art items
American Classics Yellow Stopper
American Classics Yellow Stopper
This is American Classics Yellow Stopper ($7). This is meant to be a base coat, however people have found that when it dries it's still sticky for a bit. This is great for glitter placement, burnishing on glitter as well as stamping that's tried too much.

Girly Bits Seal The Deal No-Wipe
Girly Bits Seal The Deal No-Wipe
Now I also dabble into gel products from time to time. When I do I often use the Girly Bits Seal The Deal No-Wipe($18) top coat, it's perfect for special chrome powders, as well as flakies. It's also great for stamping as well because it doesn't smear it.

Stamping essentials
ASP Manicure Saver Cotton Claw
ASP Manicure Saver Cotton Claw
Now I have tried a few "cotton grabbers" however my favourite by far is the ASP Manicure Saver Cotton Claw($5). It's thick, sturdy & is pretty indestructible. I highly recommend this one, I've had this for about 2-3 years, it's still holding up beautifully. This is perfect for cleaning off stamping plates in between nails.

Clear Jelly Stamper The Big Bling XL
Clear Jelly Stamper The Big Bling XL
Next is the Big Bling XL from Clear Jelly Stamper ($15.95 CAD). This stamper is huge, which is great because if gives you a clear picture of where your nail is, so you can place the images perfect. Works great for small & large designs.

Unt Ready For Takeoff
Unt Ready For Takeoff
Unt Ready For Takeoff ($14.99 CAD) has quickly became my favourite thing to top coat my stamped designs, with this there's absolutely no chance of smudging the nail art. It is an absolute must have for me.

So yea, these are my current manicure favourites, I use most of these daily. These are all items I have thoroughly tried, & love. I do want to add a disclaimer that just because these work for me, they may not work for you. So it's ultimately up to your body chemistry, on what works for you. Either way, I highly recommend trying out these products.

  1. I think you're on to something there about the Matte Top Coat bits! From now on, clean the rim before putting away after use
