Stila | Heaven's Hue Highlighter Review & Swatches

Press Sample

Stila has had my heart for years, from their glitter shadows to their luscious lippies, they never cease to amaze me. I love a smooth, buttery and pigmented highlighter, and today I have Stila's Heaven's Hue Highlighter in the shade "Incandescence" to swatch and try on for you. I've heard great reviews on this highlighter, it's said to be weightless, ultra fine, radiance-enhancing and contain light diffusing particles to create a glow from within, so lets get started!

Stila has always kept their packaging on the minimal and classic side, which I absolutely love. This highlight comes in their standard gold box, with a net weight of 10 grams. The compact itself is a gorgeous matte gold with shiny gold trim as well as the logo. The material is a thick plastic and feels very durable. Upon opening this highlighter, you are greeted with a large mirror and the most beautiful pink product with almost a gold reflect. My first instinct is always to touch, so of course I dive in with a gentle hand and swatched the product. This highlighter is unlike many, it almost has a bouncy consistency, its not dense and it's not a cream perhaps it's slightly in the middle.

The feeling of Stila's Heaven's Hue Highlighter is so weightless, it's almost hard to describe. It feels fluffy yet firm and almost like a putty, I am in-love! As you can see, this shade is highly pigmented with a pink base accompanied by a golden glow. When choosing highlighters, I tend to stick with champagne's and pink's, they tend to work best with my skin tone. As you can see, "Incandescence" is a great fit for me.

Swatches are a great way to tell whether or not a makeup product is going to work for you, but with highlighters I find its best to test on a face of makeup, our arm's and hands are much smoother than our faces are. I have some texture to my skin and many highlighters can accentuate those little bumps and pores that I've tried so well to cover up. Stila's highlighter on the other hand, has not made any of my texture more noticeable, the finish is absolutely stunning. The glow that I achieved is not only beautiful, it's very long lasting. Perhaps that's because of it's putty-like texture? It's not the most blinding highlighter I've tried, I'd say it's up there though! The shade "Incandescence" worked so well for me, I find that because the shade has some pink in it, it blends in seamlessly with my blush leaving no harsh highlight lines. Overall, Stila's Heaven's Hue Highlighter is fabulous in my opinion, it's texture makes for a long-lasting application, the available shades are gorgeous, it's highly pigmented and you get a good amount of product for $32.
