Marbles For Polish - Interviews with Indie Nail Polish Creators #7

Interviews with Indie Nail Polish Creators - #7

Hey guys! I hope you're doing well! I really am exciting to be interviewing indie polish creators. We've seen so many new nail trends because of them & I can't wait too see what they have in store for us next! Since indie polishes are very popular right now I figured there's probably a lot of customers/fans who would love to get to know the person behind all their favourite creations. So that's what I'm going to be trying to help you do!

Questions are BOLD & the creators response will be in the regular font.

Please tell me a bit yourself. (What's you're name? Are you a Cat or dog person?  Etc)
My name is Shannon, I'm married to my wonderful husband Rob, and we have two kids named Aiden and Andraia. We also have a dog named Charlie. I'm a full time stay at home mom who enjoys photography, drawing, cooking, baking, comics, and video games.

What is your nail polish brand & how did you come up with the name?
My brand is called Marbles For Polish. I had started with a blog of the same name because I discovered water marbling my nails. I thought it would be cute to name my blog after both the process and being crazy (or marbles) for nail polish.

What year did you start your brand & what motivated you?
My brand started in 2014. While searching around for polish the year before I came across a mini kit to make your own nail polish. I enjoyed doing it so much that I started to order some supplies to start my own brand.

Do you remember the name of the first polish you made &/or sold?
I made and released a couple single polishes and a small collection all at once. The collection was called Drunk Love, five glitter toppers based on alcoholic drinks. My very first order was for three polishes from the collection.

When creating a new polish, what's your inspiration process?
I have a couple different ways I come up with polishes. Sometimes I just see a combination of my pigments and glitters and think it would be pretty then come up with a name after making the polish. Then sometimes I actually start with a collection in mind, usually based on a show or movie, and I try to convey characters into polish.

What is your all time favourite polish that you created?
I've made a good amount so it's pretty tough to choose! I'm pretty fond of all the holo polishes I've made, I think Raven and Noble are at the top of my list.

What are your 3 top sellers of all times?
I honestly haven't kept track of how many of each polish I've sold since I usually make them as they're ordered. I think that Warrior Princess Claire would probably be the best seller though.

From your personal experience what are some pros & cons to being a indie polish creator?
I absolutely love being part of the polish community, there are so many kind and helpful people when it comes to indie brands, nail art, and collectors. It's also amazing to be able to create things that people wear and love. The only con for me is doing the actual work! I can be pretty lazy, so the repetitive packing and shipping gets pretty boring.

Where is your brand based? Do you ship internationally?
My brand is based out of Pennsylvania, US. I do ship internationally, but not directly through my shop.

What's your favourite mainstream brand?
Zoya, hands down. I've got about 300 Zoya polishes and always have to buy the new collections.

What's your favourite indie brand?
That's a tougher question, but I think I have to say ILNP.

Is there anything else you'd like my readers to know?
Yes, I have to apologize for not being very active with my brand lately. I don't post on social media or my blog right now, but my shop is absolutely still open!
