We've seen so many new nail trends because of them & I can't wait too see what they have in store for us next! Since indie polishes are very popular right now I figured there's probably a lot of customers/fans who would love to get to know the person behind all their favourite creations. So that's what I'm going to be trying to help you do!

Questions are BOLD & the creators response will be in the regular font.

Please tell me a bit yourself. (What's you're name? Are you a Cat or dog person?  Etc)
The most defining thing about me is my faith in Jesus! In him I have found true peace and joy and a source to draw on for everything I need in life! I always have hope bc of how faithful God is.  I love our church community, I feel like I'm surrounded by a bunch of winners, people who trust God, serve &love Him faithfully, and are extremely blessed because of it! My life is filled with abundant blessing, and when bad days come, joy and hope are always available to me b/c they are based on a never failing love of the Father,  not on others or circumstances which fail! He has made me a strong daughter, wife & mother. My husband is a huge support in all I do. My business wouldn't be the same without his help! I also love to cook and be outside w/my kids engaging & loving on our neighbors. I love the wind, exercising, homemade popcorn & movie night!

My name is Joanne and I’m definitely a cat person, I have two orange tabby cats named Ginny and Luna. I’m a thirty-something living in New York City. Way back in middle school my friends and I would franken our own polishes out of drug store brands (Revlon Street Wear ftw!). Fast forward to adulthood, I found my way in to the indie polish world sometime in 2012 through a coworker who was a nail enthusiast. Outside of indie polish I love to read, hang out with my cats (I know, I’m so cool), and enjoy all of the varieties of food that NYC has to offer.

Hey guys! I hope you're doing well! I really am exciting to be interviewing indie polish creators. Since indie polishes are very popular right now I figured there's probably a lot of customers/fans who would love to get to know the person behind all their favourite creations. Questions are BOLD & the creators response will be in the regular font.

Please tell me a bit yourself. (What's you're name? Are you a Cat or dog person?  Etc)
My name is Shannon, I'm married to my wonderful husband Rob, and we have two kids named Aiden and Andraia. We also have a dog named Charlie. I'm a full time stay at home mom who enjoys photography, drawing, cooking, baking, comics, and video games.

What is your nail polish brand & how did you come up with the name?
My brand is called Marbles For Polish. I had started with a blog of the same name because I discovered water marbling my nails. I thought it would be cute to name my blog after both the process and being crazy (or marbles) for nail polish.

What year did you start your brand & what motivated you?
My brand started in 2014. While searching around for polish the year before I came across a mini kit to make your own nail polish. I enjoyed doing it so much that I started to order some supplies to start my own brand.

Do you remember the name of the first polish you made &/or sold?
I made and released a couple single polishes and a small collection all at once. The collection was called Drunk Love, five glitter toppers based on alcoholic drinks. My very first order was for three polishes from the collection.

When creating a new polish, what's your inspiration process?
I have a couple different ways I come up with polishes. Sometimes I just see a combination of my pigments and glitters and think it would be pretty then come up with a name after making the polish. Then sometimes I actually start with a collection in mind, usually based on a show or movie, and I try to convey characters into polish.

What is your all time favourite polish that you created?
I've made a good amount so it's pretty tough to choose! I'm pretty fond of all the holo polishes I've made, I think Raven and Noble are at the top of my list.

What are your 3 top sellers of all times?
I honestly haven't kept track of how many of each polish I've sold since I usually make them as they're ordered. I think that Warrior Princess Claire would probably be the best seller though.

From your personal experience what are some pros & cons to being a indie polish creator?
I absolutely love being part of the polish community, there are so many kind and helpful people when it comes to indie brands, nail art, and collectors. It's also amazing to be able to create things that people wear and love. The only con for me is doing the actual work! I can be pretty lazy, so the repetitive packing and shipping gets pretty boring.

Where is your brand based? Do you ship internationally?
My brand is based out of Pennsylvania, US. I do ship internationally, but not directly through my shop.

What's your favourite mainstream brand?
Zoya, hands down. I've got about 300 Zoya polishes and always have to buy the new collections.

What's your favourite indie brand?
That's a tougher question, but I think I have to say ILNP.

Is there anything else you'd like my readers to know?
Yes, I have to apologize for not being very active with my brand lately. I don't post on social media or my blog right now, but my shop is absolutely still open!

I go by Angie, but my full name is Angela. I was born and raised in Virginia Beach and now moved a whole three hours north to Fairfax, VA where Dam Nail Polish was born. By day, I'm a data analyst but dream of one day making nail polish as my only job. I have a degree in Information Technology and another one in Psychology. I once thought I could be a counsellor of some sort, but it turns out I'm better with computers. I'm married and we have a baby girl and an adopted mutt named Snickers.

Hey guys! As you know winter can be terribly drying & since matte liquid lipsticks are still a huge trend, most of you know dry peeling lips don't go well with a liquid lipstick. So you need to exfoliate your lips first.

My name is Nicole, and I live in the gorgeous Pacific Northwest with my husband and our 3 year old goldendoodle Darla. We spend a lot of time hiking and camping because we live close to both the mountains and the coast. I’m in an awesome book club, and a “stitch and bitch” group (knitting, cross stitch, beer, wine, venting, etc). I’m borderline obsessed with musical theatre and drag, and have started making custom press-on nail sets for drag queens. I also do a lot of cooking and baking, mostly for my friends and my husband’s students. He’s a ceramic artist and teaches high school ceramics and photography, and he and I met while we were pursuing masters degrees in art, and film respectively. You’ll often notice when I refer to It Girl Nail Art, I say “we,” and it’s because he is very much a part of this adventure. From folding shipping boxes to engineering a mold to make silicone stamping heads, he’s definitely central to It Girl’s success. Darla’s a pretty great intern, but her only responsibilities are notifying me when deliveries arrive and boosting morale!

Today I'll be interviewing Jennalyn! (=

Please tell me a bit yourself. (What's you're name? Are you a Cat or dog person?  Etc)
First off, I'm not good at talking about myself. I'm a Michigan girl who loves all animals, but currently has four cat babies. In my free time I enjoy watching YouTube and playing the Sims.

What is your nail polish brand & how did you come up with the name?
I own LynBDesigns and I came up with the name while I was in high school. I wanted to become a fashion designer and thought it would be a good name for my label. When I created my brand I thought why not re-purpose the name.

My name is Cynthia Decker, I am way old, I will be 62 next year!  I have been "doing mah nails" as the family has called it since I started high school.  I do love animals but my heart cannot take the pain of them going over the Rainbow Bridge any more, so I love all the bebbehs from afar.  If it is your love, I enjoy hearing about the lil' ones ♥  Besides the usual cats and dogs I have friends that have lizards, fish, hamsters and birds, I am just as concerned for them as I am about the human children!

What is your nail polish brand & how did you come up with the name?
Creative Cuticles Nail Polish; Before I started making polish, I was just a nail artist/polish enthusiast. Once I had decided that I would take it on, I wanted to tie my brand into the reputation that I had already started for myself. My nail art Instagram is "Kayla's Creative Cuticles", so, I took a bit from there.
