Please tell me a bit yourself (not your polish brand just you).
My name is Steph Short - I grew up in East Vancouver, but now live in Port Coquitlam, BC.  I don't have any kids, but after a hubby, two cats, two birds, and various wild animals that come for staycations, I don't need kids! My normal job is counter supervisor at a Recreation Centre.

What is your nail polish brand name?
It's called $weetcheeks Polish

What inspired you to name your brand that?
My husband calls me Sweetcheeks. It always makes me smile.

What year did you start your brand?
um..... officially March 2013, but I had been seriously experimenting and messing around for about a year before that.

Do you remember the name of the first polish you made &/or sold?

The first one I made- Cherry Blossom, for my sister in law. She's half Japanese, and she loved it. The first one I sold was Jem, from my Jem Glamour and Glitter Collection. It was my opening collection back in March 2013. Which, by the way, Jem and Eric are sold out and I'm in the process of remaking more now, but the Jem movie is coming out- so shameless plug to my line!!!

Out of all the the polishes you've made, can you tell me your favourite 3?
My fave three are Vous Etes Mon Soleil, Shattered Nuclei, and Stormer. I"ve also got a few one ones coming out that might challenge that decision.

What are your 3 top sellers of all times?
Stormer for sure, I keep having to make more, as well as Vous Etes Mon Soleil, and the third is a tie between Eric and Synergy.

When making a polish, do you create with inspirations or just start adding by random.
Sometimes I add randomly, and see what works out...those usually end up as micro batches or one-offs. Or two-off, depending on if I've added too much glitter and need to add more base. I do have inspirations- obviously my great love of the Jem world was a huge inspiration. Being blonde and growing up in the 80's I always dressed as Jem for Halloween- my mom even sprayed pink streaks into my hair! Sometimes flowers or certain colors inspire me, but a lot of the time it's people.

Take Vous Etes Mon Soleil. It's in honor of my mom, who is battling pancreatic cancer. The weird thing was, she likes purple, so I made it purple, and tweaked and tweaked for the glitters and shimmers mixed in. Then, after it was done, I found out that pancreatic cancer is a purple ribbon. THEN, she got her chemo port put into her chest and THAT was purple. So every day going to chemo, she'd have on these fantastic purple nails while sitting there and it was awesome, because it made her smile, made the nurses smile, and it made me smile. (And cry)

I had a customer give me a request for a satin nude polish - which after hers was done I decided to put it into larger production. With her blessing, it's in testing right now. It's a very particular nude, it took a lot of work to get it to the skin tone she wanted, but it was nice because when I get detailed input from my clients, it enables me to make their customs better for them. Money's worth, so to speak :)

Do you ship internationally?
I do- UK is on and off depending on how the mail service is being, I've already had to suspend shipping there once this year and lost a big package. I'd love to have everything I shipped tracked, to make it easier for everyone, but I'm just a little company, and tracked shipping is not cheap. Customers do have the option to pay for it, though, when they purchase through my Etsy store.

Is there anything else you'd like my readers to know?
I feel bad because I haven't really been posting much or anything, but at the same time it's super hard because when I do post, people don't see it because Facebook keeps changing the rules of the game! So when you do see me post, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE comment or like it, so other people can see it, too. I don't want to vanish into obscurity because Facebook can't stop being greedy.

Also, $1.00 from every polish I sell gets donated to VOKRA- Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association. They're a really lovely group of people that do great things. The animals they rescue don't get kept in cages, they get spayed or neutered, and put into selected foster homes until they find forever homes. They have a lot of neat fundraising auctions, as well, for which I usually donate a custom three pack that's cat oriented.
