The Painted Villain - IntensePolishTherapy Indie Interview (I.I.I)

IntensePolishTherapy Indie Interview (I.I.I)  #10
Questions are BOLD & the creators response will be in the regular font.

Hey guys! Today I will be interviewing Miss Tashia from The Painted Villain.
What is your nail polish brand name?
My brand name is The Painted Villain. It’s also an unofficial name because my shop itself is getting ready to include other artful creations. It’s still very much a work in progress. (I know! I have shame!) hehe

What inspired you to name your brand that?
The friends I made in the army used to joke that I always looked like the cat who ate the canary. I have a very mischievous grin. I paint and do prosthetic makeup (the cool stuff you see in movies) on the side and I just wanted a little word play off of that. I think it suited ME as a person. I’m also heavily tattooed which is where “painted” comes in.

What year did you start your brand?
1 November, 2012.

Do you remember the name of the first polish you made &/or sold?
Yes! ‘For What It’s Worth’ was my first polish. It’s an EXACT replication of essie’s Starry Starry Nights. In keeping tradition with the evening sky name, I chose to name it after one of my favorite songs about soldiers during the Vietnam war; the shade being the sky they saw at night. It took about 3 months to perfect. I went through different sizes of glitter before its final product as well as intensive shade matching.  Was hard work and it paid off. It’s a hit!

Out of all the the polishes you've made, can you tell me your favourite 3?
Dead Man’s Party (favorite 80's song). I like dark blues and its confetti glitter would be the aftermath of the best night ever! Did I mention that it glows in the dark? 'FrankenStrat' because I am a HUGE Van Halen fan and 'Black Magic Woman’ because it really reminds me of New Orleans during Mardi Gras at night. Its so colorful and it always feels like magic is in the air when I visit.

What are your 3 top sellers of all times?
‘For What It’s Worth' is my BEST seller. 'Wicked’ is a close second and ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ is my third.

When making a polish, do you create with inspirations or just start adding by random?
Inspiration! Everything can inspire me.  I have a lot of AHA! moments so I keep a tiny book with polish recipe ideas and names.  If I added random things before thinking it out I’d wind up with a big mess. HAHAHA

Do you ship internationally?
Right now I only offer overseas shipments to military. Eventually I will ship internationally.

Is there anything else you'd like my readers to know?
I own a freelance mobile manicure service that I run for all of Fort Irwin. I also help train our soldiers here at NTC doing prosthetic makeup and special effects with our fellow amputees from the Wounded Warrior Project. I used to be a mortician in the army (92M, 111th QMCO) and my main responsibility is to give visual aid on what combat injuries look like (to include death).  At some point I may get back to Hollywood B-horror special effects with my boss but it depends on the demand of work.  I am married to my wonderful husband of 7 years whom I met while serving, Sgt. Daniel Misch and we have one child, our son, Joshua.   It’s a crazy life out here but it’s totally fun! :)

My official website is www.ThePaintedVillain.com.  I am also on Facebook: ThePaintingVillain.
